San Diego County Democratic Party Endorses Dave Myers for Sheriff
County Democrats Support Myers’ Efforts to Restore Accountability to Office
San Diego, CA — On Tuesday night, the Central Committee of the San Diego County Democratic Party voted unanimously to endorse Sheriff’s Commander and 32 year Sheriff’s Department veteran Dave Myers, Democratic candidate for the office of San Diego County Sheriff. This endorsement registers as one of the more historic actions undertaken by the county party as Myers looks to become one of the few openly gay male sheriffs in the nation.
“Dave Myers is the type of candidate we feel best represents our values as Democrats. Dave is a progressive who also understands the inner workings of a local county office. Dave has committed his life to enforcing law and order in our county, making our neighborhoods safe, and building bonds within our diverse communities. We are proud to endorse Dave and know he will bring real change to the Sheriff’s Department,” stated San Diego County Democratic Party Chairwoman Jessica Hayes. “We’re excited to get to work on behalf of electing Dave.”
“I am humbled by the support our campaign for sheriff received tonight,” said Dave Myers. “The San Diego Democratic Party is one of the best organized county parties in the state of California. To receive their support only strengthens our operation and gives us the advantage we’ll need to win.”
Along with the public show of support, an endorsement by the county party includes access to party resources, namely lists of party activists and volunteers and the support of the county party GOTeam, the formidable on-the-ground organizing apparatus the county party has built in an effort to increase the Democratic presence throughout the county.
