Announces Support for Dave Myers for San Diego County Sheriff

SAN DIEGO, CA – San Diego County Sheriff candidate Dave Myers has received the endorsement of Victory Fund, one of the nation’s largest LGBTQ advocacy organizations and a powerful force dedicated to increasing the number of openly LGBTQ elected officials in the country.

Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Dave Myers for San Diego County Sheriff,” said Victory Fund President & CEO Annise Parker. “Dave is a tireless advocate for criminal justice reform.  When he wins in the California Primary on June 5th – this race will be decided in June, not November — Dave will become a vital LGBTQ voice for law enforcement that is inclusive, culturally competent, and respectful to the dignity of all.”

Myers stated: “This is a major vote of confidence in my platform of common sense reforms to keep the county safe while rebuilding trust between the department and our neighborhoods.  Victory Fund has very high expectations for their candidates.  It’s not enough just to be a gay candidate.  They look very closely at each race and the viability of a candidate before deciding to get involved.  This was a very thorough vetting process that began almost year ago.”

Victory Fund provides campaign, fundraising, and communications support to LGBTQ candidates to increase the number of openly LGBTQ elected officials with the goal of advancing equality for the LGBTQ community.  Victory Fund made their first endorsement in 1981 and has grown into a nationwide powerhouse that has played a significant role in the movement for equality at the national, state, and local levels.


Civil Rights Organization Announces Support for Dave Myers for San Diego County Sheriff

SAN DIEGO, CA – Candidate for San Diego County Sheriff, Dave Myers, has earned the endorsement of Equality California, the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization. This on the heels of a Victory Fund endorsement gives Dave Myers a surge of LGBTQ support.

Equality California works to elevate voices of LGBTQ people and allies to institutions of power in California and across the United States, striving to create a world that is healthy, just, and fully equal for all LGBTQ people. Additionally, advancing civil rights and social justice by inspiring, advocating and mobilizing through an inclusive movement that works tirelessly on behalf of those they serve.

Dave Myers is a lifelong San Diego County resident and 32-year veteran of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department where he currently serves as a Commander.
